News concerning the Flight Simulation Team

01.04.2011 Flight simulator and procedure trainer
The flight simulator project based on the Piper PA28 cockpit progresses rapidly, several thesis' and design-projects playing a vital part in the latest developments. A project that was launched just recently is the creation of a procedure trainer based on the Dornier 228 commuter aircraft.

01.11.2010 Helicopter Simulator
A helicopter cockpit is being built as part of a bachelor thesis. It will be used inside the same silverscreen as the flight simulator, and can be set up in just a few moments.

01.06.2010 Project Tower Simulator
A new project has been launched concerning the development of a tower simulator. It will be made of low cost standard parts and very easy to transport, but nevertheless capable of training air traffic controllers for regional airports.

15.03.2010 final steps of building the new cockpit
Designing and building the interieur of the new cockpit is in the final stages. The avionic hardware is almost completed, the software for it has already been configured. Very soon we will be moving the cockpit into the simulator, then we will be integrating electronics and avionics and will be conducting the first flight. 03.03.2010 Test Flight Differential GPS
The flight simulation team has conducted a test flight of a highly accurate differential GPS that has been developed at the University of Applied Sciences Munich. It was designed for the use in noise measuring flights. The test was succesful and lots of data was collected. A few impressions can be found in the "team events" gallery of the "gallery" section.

30.09.2009 new simulation cockpit is taking shape
During summer break we have been working hard on our new simulation cockpit. Some impressions of the progress can be seen in the "Piper" section of the gallery. After building the rest of the cockpit und moving it to the simulation room, we well begin to integrate all the necessary electronics.

02.06.2009 Fachhochschule Augsburg visiting the simulator
Students of the Fachhochschule Augsburg, who want to create a simulation team of their own, visited us to get some information about the simulator, about technical details and on how to plan a project like this.

30.05.2009 planning and building progress Piper PA-28
The repairs of the Piper PA-28 fuselage are almost completed. The progress of the interieur design is under way.

The fuselage of the ASW 19 was repainted in Flight-Simulation Team colors and logos.

20.05.2009 Visit of A320 Simulator
The Flight Simulator Team was invited to visit an A320 Homecockpit Simulator in Wolfratshausen nearby Munich.

20.03.2009 new Flight Simulation poster
In preparation of the aeronautical exhibition AERO a new poster has been created. It shows in only a few words what the Flight Simulation Team is all about, to raise interest both with students and professionals.

09.02.2009 new silverscreen
As of today, we have a new and larger silverscreen. By this enlargement and by the repositioning of the projectors we achieve an even larger screen size for an even better illusion.

14.10.2008 the Technische Universität München is visiting our Simulator
Students of the TUM Flight Simulation Team are visiting us, to exchange information and to plan further cooperation.

01.08.2008 Relocation to new room R3.077
We are relocating the simulator in a new room, which is much larger and has all the space we need for equipment and also spectators.

10.07.2008 Aviation Days Airfield Greiling 26./27. July + new website online
On 26. und 27. July an aviation day is taking place at the Greiling Airfield nearby Bad Tölz. We are invited to contribute by setting up our simulator in a hangar. We are looking forward to a lot of interested visitors and lots of flying.
Our new Website is online! Now the whole world can get an overview of our team and our projects and keep themselves up to date concerning the project's progress. It is also a good way to get in contact with us.

29.05.2008 We are not in Room R1.048 anymore
As we were refused the further use of room R1.048, we have moved the simulator and the equipment, temporarily, to another room, which is too small and too illuminated, unfortunately. This is not too good for flying, of course, so we try to find another room soon. Flying will be suspended for the time beeing.

Students of the High School FOS Landsberg am Lech are visiting the simulator

24.04.2008 Girlsday
On April 24, 2008 the Flight Simulator will be a part of the annual nationwide Girls Day. We will present ourselves and will try to raise interest in aviation.

12.04.2008 Open House Day at Hochschule München
Today the Flight Simulation Team has its premiere in public. Our cockpit was finished just in time and will have its first flight at the Open House Day. We will simulate a glider (ASW 19) and will also organise a aircraft carrier landing competition with a fighter jet.
