We use three projectors to create the main image on the screen. The projectors
are connected to the computer by a Matrox Triple-Head, which separates the
signal for each projector. The cockpit for our first experimental simulator is a
cockpit of a ASW-19 glider. We had to replace all electronic systems of the
cockpit in order to connect them with our computer system. Now the instruments
are shown on a 12 inch display. Other control elements are located next to the
display using an I/O-card system made by opencockpits.com.
For the last months we have been working on the next project, which is to implement a complex simulator cockpit in the fuselage of a Piper Pa-28. The goal is to not only simulate one class or type of aircraft, but to be able to switch the type very quickly with a modular cockpit layout. Additional information can be found in the "new project Piper Arrow" gallery of the "gallery" section.

We
are able to simulate various flight situations. The data of the current flight
is shown on screen, but it is also saved for later use. System failures can be
simulated too
just as air-traffic-control. |
